Steam Tail (Add-on)
Conversion of a simple-cycle power plant into a combined-cycle power plant: a simple step to increase efficiency
Alstom has an extensive knowledge and experience in steam tail add-ons. Alstom offers add-ons for any Conventional Class (E-class) or Advanced Class (F-class) gas turbines from any Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).
The conversion requires the addition of all the equipment necessary for the steam part of a combined cycle power plant. An add-on then includes:
- the heat recovery steam generator
- the steam turbine
- the generator.
The add-on can be:
- designed and installed with the gas turbine cycle, making a comprehensive combined cycle power plant
- designed and installed later, after the gas turbine has been operated for a while, as part of a phased contract or indeed a separate contract.
