New Plant

KA11N2 LBtu Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP)

Demonstrated reliability and availability

Increasing price of electricity drives energy optimization in steel plants and pushes to use Blast Furnace Gas (BFG) more efficiently, i.e. burn it in gas turbines instead of boilers. Alstom KA11N2 LBtu*  is the ideal choice for customers with a demand for fast increase in electricity and heat as it can be used for existing or new steel plants, even where natural gas is not available, or very expensive.

KA11N2 LBtu is suitable for industrial applications (steel industry) on both 50 Hz and 60 Hz markets.

 * LBtu = low British thermal unit

Customer benefits

  • Extensive experience: more than 130,000 hours of operation on BFG LBtu gas
  • Excellent reliability & availability
  • Fuel flexibility: ability to burn steel mill gases in the LHV range of 1.8 – 5.5 MJ/kg (660 – 2000 kcal/Nm3) which includes BFG burning only
  • Operational flexibility: stable operation at low and part load conditions
  • High efficiency of gas turbine compared to boiler solution.
