New Plant
Co-generation - Industry, District Heating, Desalination
A double performance
Energy-intensive industry, fuel saving requirements and ever growing water demand increasingly call for environmentally-friendly Special Power Generation Applications all over the world.
Alstom Cogeneration or Combined Heat and Power (CHP) Plants meet the needs of customers in the following fields:
- industry (steel, aluminium, chemical, petro-chemical, refinery, etc)
- district heating
- desalination
Cogeneration is an efficient, clean, and reliable approach to generate power, thermal energy or desalinated water from a single fuel source. It uses heat - that would otherwise be discarded - from a power generating plant to produce thermal energy.
Combined Heat and Power (CHP) application:
- is a fuel-efficient energy technology using the by-product heat that is normally wasted to the environment,
- can increase the overall efficiency of fuel use to more than 74% compared with around 40 – 50% from conventional electricity generation,
- reduces emissions of nitrous oxides, sulphur dioxide, mercury, particulate matter, and carbon dioxide, the leading greenhouse gas associated with climate change.
