From August 10-12, a group of Alstom’s technical and commercial leaders in fossil fuel technologies traveled to Pittsburgh, US to participate in Coal Gen 2010, an industry conference focused on the environmental, operational and technical innovations for coal based power generation.

Around 250 guests joined Patrick Kron and Philippe Joubert at the official inauguration on July 1 of the new energy efficient offices in Massy, France, which are home to 650 Power employees and the headquarters of the newly named Power Automation & Controls.

Between 1 April 2009 and 30 September 2009, Alstom registered order intake of €7.1 billion, down from the record level of the first six months of the previous year. Over the same period, sales (€9.7 billion) and income from operations (€828 million) continued to grow, up respectively by 8% and 19%. The operating margin reached 8.6% as compared to 7.8% last year. The net result amounted to €562 million (+7%), whilst the free cash flow decreased to €77 million due to the sharp drop in orders received.
