Alstom to supply electrical equipment for a new unit at Ruacana, Namibia’s biggest hydropower plant
05 Nov 2009Alstom Hydro, in consortium with Andritz Hydro, has been awarded a contract with Namibia’s state-owned power utility Nam Power for the supply of the electro-mechanical equipment and penstocks for a new 92 MW turbine-generator unit at Ruacana power plant in Namibia. Alstom’s share of the contract is approximately €16 million.
Alstom and Schlumberger seal a joint agreement to develop carbon capture & storage readiness studies for power plants
04 Nov 2009Alstom and Schlumberger have announced the signature of an agreement for mutual collaboration in the joint offering of CCS*-ready studies. These innovative studies will conduct a technical analysis of a power plant to identify how it should be adapted to accommodate an Alstom CCS system.
Alstom signs a contract worth €450 million with Grosskraftwerk Mannheim AG to supply innovative steam turbine and boiler technology
02 Nov 2009Alstom has signed two contracts, worth a total value of approximately 450 million euros, known as the Mannheim 9 project, to supply Grosskraftwerk Mannheim AG with new boiler and turbine units at the company’s Mannheim power plant in the state of Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Alstom recorded a sound operational performance in the difficult economic environment of the first half 2009/10
Between 1 April 2009 and 30 September 2009, Alstom registered order intake of €7.1 billion, down from the record level of the first six months of the previous year. Over the same period, sales (€9.7 billion) and income from operations (€828 million) continued to grow, up respectively by 8% and 19%. The operating margin reached 8.6% as compared to 7.8% last year. The net result amounted to €562 million (+7%), whilst the free cash flow decreased to €77 million due to the sharp drop in orders received.
